One of the interesting things is how different the astroturfing on Reddit is compared to 2020. You'd have expected the subs they used in previous elections to be swamped with botted votes - /r/marchagainsttrump , /r/enoughtrumpspam , /r/esist and so on... Instead those subs are practically dead and instead they're brigading posts to the top in every unrelated sub imaginable.
You can expect seethe in /r/Pennsylvania if Kamala loses, but since the botting will shut down you won't be seeing 40k upmarseyd posts there the moment the results arrive.

Do people even use /r/all anymore? Might be why they are now astro turfing popular/default subs instead of dedicated subreddits which people might not see

They changed the default to /r/popular, which is basically /r/all with porn and autism removed. Somehow /r/politics and state subs remained on there so that's the current target for astroturfing.

as of 1-2 years ago /all gets the same half assed nsfw filter as popular i think?
funnily it excludes any (nsfw sub) nudity but includes /r/medizzy and /r/medicalgore

Yeah, they had to kill NSFW visibility entirely because all the porn subs were taken over by
advertisers. The admins were happy to hand over those subs because they don't have to deal with revenge porn complaints, but it turned the entire site into shitty reposted ads.

Some subs might have died due to the janny strike and they realized there's no point in directing bots there
