I actually like my local Canada Post workers, they are all great. I've seen time and time again these union strikes just done to enrich the upper level who actually makes the deal. Canada Post workers need to clear out their bureaucratic trash. (7)
there is no reason that they need to have a union other then the fact that it is a government corporation and there has always been an union. Time to hire Scabs and Never, Ever deal with the union. We dont need a political solution, Management needs to hire from underneath the union! (-11)

Let's all stop shaming people for the job they work. Who cares, they have the right to be treated fairly. They would not be doing this if they didn't enjoy their job. Some have made their entire career working for CP, and at that point it's not like working at DQ where you can just go get another job. It's their life (37)
And nurses that start at $30 or less? (-1)

When you let corporate interests take over your economy, workers have to unionize or they are treated like shit. That's what happened with Starbucks, that's what happened with Amazon, that's what happened with Uber. None of those are government owned businesses and they are fighting tooth and nail to union bust in different regions of the world. There isn't enough resource for everyone to run their own business and actually profit on it. Look at the restaurant industry. Half of the good restaurants can't stay open past 1-3 years. That's across every industry. (11)
We live in an economy that rewards education, training a skillset and utilizing that skillset for compensation. If you do not have a skillset, then you are at the bottom of the barrel in terms of compensation, the bottom of the worker pyramid. It is in our interest as Canadians to not have CP another cost runaway. (-5)

All of this negativity is disgusting. Everyone deserves a wage that can support them.20 years ago you could raise a family on what cp paid. Now you can't.There are lots of reasons why someone works a "low skill" job but since your ignorance and prejudice clouds your reasoning. Not everyone has the ability to go to school, whether they suffered from a brain injury at birth or suffer from a processing disability.Lots of careers used to be considered low skill or for those who were low intelligence and we now realize we need them in society The fact you took time out to complain how it affects your life shows you acknowledge how important they are.We need to stop suggesting careers aren't worthy of being paid a good wage because of the skill/education involved because there is a reason why you're not doing the job and don't give the bullshit excuse of "i did something with my life".Your dismissive attitude needs to be adjusted because you're not any better than a low skilled worker. And people have the "right" to eat, to have shelter and clothing on their backs. But this postal strike is causing serious harm and hardship to the most fragile people. Because of the strike, thousands of income assistance cheques here in BC did not get to people who are desperately poor. They have nothing for rent or food in the middle of winter. No union has the "right" to cause such suffering and calamity in the lives of innocent people. (3)

See? You talk as a "fight for the people". That is out of touch. Its not by taking them as leverage and hurting their own living wage in this economy that will help.Small businesses are the most hurted by this. They have employees too.Thinking its a fight for the people is just thinking too high of what it is.All the strikes CUPW did... All the strikes we had this year.It was NOT a good move and a very very bad timing. (5)
I agree, it's bad timing. Small businesses are used to this. That's why there are a plethora of very affordable private courier services operating in Canada that have been doing so since before the pandemic. Canadians, as tax payers who have their money rolled into funding Canada Post as a corporation are the ones that are being hurt. But not by the workers. They're being hurt by objectively AWFUL failed management and corporate policy. Postal workers are not the reason why Canada Post is in billions of dollars of debt. That's not the way you run a business that works for an entire nation and the workers are not making those calls, corporate is. (2)
