Prison food is generally the absolute worst they can get away with feeding them without killing them. Bare minimum (and often lower) calories, the packaging of most of it literally says "not fit for human consumption"; chips and shit comes from commissary meaning they have to buy it themselves for obscene prices with money sent through JPay or from their $0.09/hour wages.
Jail food is even worse though, hope you like shrinkwrapped bologna and 4 oz cartons of fruit-flavored water and a rock that vaguely resembles a cookie twice a day ✨

Scared straight is inaffective and so is scaring potential criminals with displaying conditions of prison.
Potential criminals commit crimes, for many reasons, but usually have damage to their prefrontal cortex and executive functioning, which controls risk reward functioning in the brain.
Without CBT, these people are essentially doomed to making poor decisions, regardless of awareness of outcome or not.

Like 70% of federal inmates have ADHD, which is in essence, is an underdeveloped/damaged prefrontal cortex. The only solution is CBT, to help develop this part of their brain. Medication can work as well, but won't fix core problem. Exercise can also help develop better reward structures in the brain, but more research is needed.
Anyway, I despise people who know nothing about an issue, speaking their uninformed opinion about a problem.

Trauma, especially occurring during childhood, has immense impact on the brain, most notably within the prefontal cortex.
PTSD for example, has been linked to damage to the prefrontal cortex causing excessive fear, issues controlling inhibition, etc.
Physical trauma as a sollution to issues caused (in part) by previous trauma is r-slurred, and typically only a solution suggested by individuals who derive sexual pleasure from the inlfiction of these acts (sadism).
Regardless, Sadism is a function of Paraphelia, associated with higher estrogen in males, along with higher levels of sexual depravity including bestiality, libertarianism, and scatophilia.
So when you make comments like this, you are basically outing yourself as a sexual deviant and possible libertarian. Keep yourself safe.
