See, this is where I disagree. The ordinary MAGA supporter doesn't give a darn about the cushy soft Silicon Valley jobs being taken by "muh cheap labour" immigrants. They've been listening to (and I've been listening to) years of these same people talking about how the economy is going great so all the complaints ab out high prices and inflation are just whinging; that if your rust belt town loses its last factory to outsourcing overseas, then just pick up and move to where the jobs are you lazy redneck; that free market capitalism is the greatest thing in the world and nothing and nobody should interfere with it; stop complaining that brown people are taking your jobs, goods are cheaper than ever (why even you can afford an iPhone!); and that there should be no such thing as the minimum wage as this throttles the rights of employers to pay a fair market wage - if the job only pays you buttons, then your labour is only worth buttons. Get a better job, loser!
The sneering contempt for lower middle-class work and workers made me seethe.
But now, now that they are the ones who are facing the economic winds of change, now that they are the ones who are replaceable by cheap labour - yeah, now they want a guaranteed minimum wage for entry level jobs in their professions. Now GDP line go up isn't the most important thing. Now they should be able to live in their expensive overpriced city and not have to pack up and move to where the work is, or take a pay cut for the sake of the share price.
Yeah, I'm laughing. Go for it, Elon! Show them that they are not the High Value Human Capital they thought they were! This is capitalism in action, baby!

if we produce more software, we'll need to maintain more software, and that will create jobs even if we don't recognize true economic benefit because all we're doing is maintaining a bunch of redundant systems that then require even more work to make interoperable.
