I think what we're watching is a man who never had any friends desperately trying to find his in-group. He tried being a techbro, no one liked him because he's a righoid. He tried being a rocket scientist, no one liked him because he's a moron. He tried being a rightoid, no one liked him because he's a sperg and fundamentally a soy. He tries being a sperg, no one liked him because he's cringe. His entire life consists of bouncing from group to group, always trying to fit in by miming what others are doing but always failing.

He's that kid in high school who desperately tries to hang with the cool kids, and they humor him for a bit, but really they just make fun of him behind his back. So then that kid tries to hang out with the various cliques, the goths, the metalheads, the skaters, the potheads, but they all spurn him because he's got nothing in common with them.
