Drumpf sentencing set for a week from today, 10 January

https://www.nycourts.gov/LegacyPDFs/press/PDFs/People%20v.%20DJT%20Clayton%20Decision.pdf

I wanted to make a betting thread about it but I don't even know what the options would be since he can't be sentenced to prison and I can't imagine the court is allowed to be like you are fined for a gazillion dollars

Speculate wildly itt

@The_Homocracy why did you delete these, until JUST NOW I forgot all about your insisting that normies will totally see the "convicted felon" label as a complete dealbreaker :carpraging:

The now-deleted xeets were insisting at GREAT LENGTH that if convicted there was NO CHANCE of a drumpf win because everyone is too stupid to understand laws and stuff but everyone knows what a felony is and thirty heckin four of them was A NUKE

You're right, obviously, but I wonder if you can see that it's sad and a Bad Thing for society that the electorate doesn't have any faith in the legal system.

I can understand why Trump won, but in a better civilization someone like him would never have been in the running.

There's a certain irony that the people freaking out about America becoming a third world country are accelerating that transformation by undermining US institutions and replacing them with strongman autocracy. It's real banana republic shit.

It's the standard leftoid modus operandi:

1. Infiltrate an institution.

2. Use the reputation/authority/trust in the institution to push blatant agenda.

3. :marseysurprisedpikachu: when instead of convincing the plebs it burns up all reputation/authority/trust.

When 1200 doctors sign a letter saying that Covid doesn't spread at BLM protests specifically, normal people stop trusting the doctors.

When university professors explain that it's akshually impossible to be racist against white people, normal people stop trusting university professors.

When newspapers keep talking about the pee tape but ignore Hunter Biden's laptop, normal people stop trusting newspapers.

When the legal system gives four years to the QAnon Shaman for being toured through the Capitol, invents a novel legal theory for removing Trump from ballots without due process, and another novel legal theory used to upgrade those 34 misdemeanors to felonies using kettle logic, you bet your hairy labia normal people stop trusting the legal system.

I don't know what's weirder tbh: the leftoid naive hopes and genuine surprise when this shit doesn't work, exemplified by @The_Homocracy, is obviously just (political) autism. If you really like "your guys" you have trouble imagining how someone would flip on a dime to distrusting them instead of trusting the bullshit they peddle. But you, you can see that happening, complain about that happening, and still somehow don't quite get why it is happening. Do you think that it's our civil duty, when institutions piss on our faces to pretend that it's sugar water, to protect our Democracy?

4 years is a joke slap on the wrist for trying to violently overturn the results of an election.

I'm not joking when I say the ringleaders should probably be executed for sedition.

I deadass thought the convictions would change nothing- cause I thought Trump stood no chance because he barely won in 2016 as a protest vote, and only had chances to disappoint his supporters since.

I underestimated the MAGA. :marseykneel:

My "I'm voting for the convicted felon" shirt with his growling mugshot that I got at the rally looks awesome

Probably a fifth of the merch was about convicted felon

I'd guess more than half was about the shooting

It was a superbly aesthetic campaign and the lawfare actually helped

I was bored of the Trump train and ready to go back to voting basic b-word Dem but then the courts came after my boy and I remembered why I supported him. Total miscalculation.

(~5 events after that also would have pushed me back on the Trump train, it was his year)

I don't even remember the chronology anymore, I just know I was all in on voting third party because Trump was such a letdown in 2016-2020 and Biden is ancient+dem policies are nonstarters but then the assassination attempt happened and it was full steam ahead

I'm surprised the election wasn't even more of a blowout, how people can have watched that and not been overcome with a burning need to support this man is beyond me

I still expect him to do very little again and be a disappointment but I know he'll try his best for the people and that's more than I can say I've felt about any president in my lifetime

The media worked triple time blaming Trump for being shot, no-self reflection as the nicest people in my life were disappointed when he lived.

I'm not sure why the republican party wants to hold on to a convicted felon so badly. :marseythinkorino:

He's literally a felon. He's an insurrectionist, a male feminist (the judge's words!), and a felon. There's no way bread-and-butter Republicans are going to vote for a convicted criminal, especially after the insurrection (it was an insurrection) on Jan 6.

Plot Twist: The Judge does a 180, incarcerates him, and Biden pulls out the 14th Amendment, swears Kamala in, and lets Trump rot in jail.

All the terrible policies fade away into the sunset. The tariffs go through and the market continues to boom. Elon Musk is indicted and charged with Extorting Congress, and also incarcerated, as a result his board removes him as CEO of Tesla.

Trump dies in 6 months from massive coronary failure in prison. The autopsy reveals 90% clogged arteries with KFC cholesterol.
