BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Strong words from Burlington's police chief on Monday where a repeat offender got into trouble yet again.
If you've been downtown, you've likely seen Michael Reynolds, 47, of Burlington.
Burlington Police Chief Jon Murad says Reynolds has had more than 1,800 encounters with officers, the most in their records system.
He is also accused of a burglary nearby, where the victim found Reynolds hiding in his closet.
Reynolds was released on conditions Monday.
In a statement, Chief Murad said, "[Reynolds] has exhausted outlets of charity, treatment, or relief, and burned bridges with entities that seek to help the disadvantaged."
He encouraged prosecutors to use Vermont's habitual criminal statute if Reynolds is convicted of his most recent felony charge. That means he could face additional prison time.
