Dune is so crazy and creative and strange. It doesn't work as a movie but it's not the utter disaster people say it is lol. It's a fun watch as long as you know what you're getting into.
Also pretty funny to see like half the cast of Twin Peaks in a sci fi adventure.

Strongly agree (love Kyle MacLachlan), also technically Lynch wanted it to be two movies and if he had gotten his wish it would've probably been way less incoherent
It's far more creative and artistic than the remakes

I don't dislike the new Dune films but I really don't think they're nearly as good as people make them out to be. My main issue is that I do not feel anything whatsoever for the characters. The plot zips along so quickly that we never get a chance to sit with anything.
Every modern adaptation of an epic sci fi/fantasy novel just makes me even more appreciative of what Peter Jackson was able to do with his LOTR films. And even he couldn't recreate the magic with his awful Hobbit films (many reasons for this tbf, some were out of his control).

I've only seen the first Dune movie remake, and it was dreadfully boring. The plot twist of the Atreides are being conspired against is extremely simple (fat man want money) and telegraphed from the start. Paul becoming Jesus is telegraphed from the start. Everything is incredibly simple and linear. It's such a shallow sci-fi setting. No one would give a shit if not for the worms.

Dune is literally the only thing David Lynch has done that I hated (that I've seen, haven't watched Hotel Room or On the Air).
I've watched it three times and hated it every time.
Recently watched the Denis Villeneuve films and whilst I didn't hate them, I didn't really enjoy them all that much either.
I guess I just don't like Dune.

Dune the books actually sucks (a lot), guy tried and failed to imitate Tolkien and ended up making a shallow setting that pretends to be deep by giving long elaborate proper names for every minutae
