Very sad, impossible to overstate how much this man's work means to me. And I know so many others who can say the same. One of the brightest spots in a dark time of my life during the pandemic was when my ex and I rented a local movie theater for my birthday and showed a double feature of Sunset Boulevard and Mulholland Drive for all our friends. Twin Peaks: The Return is one of the most beautiful, creative, and moving pieces of art I've ever seen. My first high quality comment on this site was about how Inland Empire should be considered one of the great films.

It's so sad to see him go because it's another sign of the end of an era. So many of our great filmmakers have already gone and so many will soon. I thought of this a lot while watching Oh, Canada by Paul Schrader a month ago. At this point I don't think these masters owe us anything and any project they complete now is a gift. But to see someone like Lynch go means that a major moment in art and human expression now lives permanently in the past.

It's been 8 years since Twin Peaks: The Return came out. I didn't really expect anything more from him. But it was nice knowing he was around. Now he's gone but his films and stories and music and performances will live as long as we keep watching.

It is wild in every picture of Lynch with an insanely sexy women they clearly love the guy. Seriously, look at the body language in any pic of him with a woman lol it is actually funny once you start looking. And he somehow never looked awkward or like a try hard or anything.

They She almost didn't make it this far.

When Laura was twelve, living in Texas, she got a bullet in the head.

Stray fire from a drive-by. She survived, obviously.

I totally realize most people are going to disagree with me here but I feel compelled to say that killing David Lynch for a joke wasn't a very kind thing to do. We have seen TONS of posts from vulnerable populations talking about how Twin Peaks is a source of support and humor in a dark time. Irony and dirtbagism aside, taking away that support without warning was not okay. You can say I'm being silly, or humorless or reactionary. Whatever. I love David Lynch and I love this community. But sometimes I come home after dealing with ableism and our nightmare reality all day, and this man was one of many things that make me feel better. It wasn't a good feeling to find this sub closed for the sake of irony. Maybe that's laughable or pathetic. But for me, it's true.

Yeah dude it was amazing. It really landed with everyone too, you know how people can be about old movies lol. Thankfully it turns out none of my friends are plebs. And Sunset Boulevard really feels so modern and current anyway.
