I hear this a lot. But I dont agree. I make more money than 90% of americans. I do not desire what the 1% has. The 1% only desires what they do because of the need for endless accumulation capitalism aquires. Marketing. Competitive spending.

I dont want a giant house. I do not want a lawn. I do not want idols or collectibles. I believe that made-to-order restaurants should be replaced with batch cooking cafeteria lines under communism, to maximize the potential time efficiency in food preperation.

But as someone forced to own a home with a lawn, in a community of transient people, unethical consumption simply becomes one of the few unproductive activities I can engage in. There is no public socialization, not st the scale, accessibility, or casual manner that humanity once enjoyed for 99% of our history. Instead my inteference with the world, work, is mediated by entirely by the constant consumption of gasoline.

The reality is that being productive as a communist isnt and should not be about optimizing your lifestyle like a personal brand for the most ethical unethical consumption possible, it should be about actually building communism.

Commies like the one in the OP are fully brain rotted by capitalism. They criticize others by comparing their purchased lifestyle's relative communist-esque virtue. They make unto themselves a personality of capital with a communist aesthetic. Rather than criticize the exploitation of a supply chain itself, they publicaly shame others for being the consumers of that capital, as if it were a useful activity. As if that criticism would end the supply chain itself. Would result in better wages, unionization, or a comunist nation. Which it wouldnt.

Which is to say theres never been a communist uprising born out of personal comsumer choice. Just like farming ethics have never come about by means of consumers simply not buying slow bled pork.

Ironically, merely being aware of the difference between useful purchases and performatively consumptive purchases is a great way to accumulate capital. Most americans could retire 10 years earlier if they didnt constantly "upgrade" the square footage of their homes.

and 40 is not really that good when much larger vehicles can do the same with more power

the smart fortwo has a 1500cc 3cyl motorcycle engine that makes like 80 horsepower

my actual motorccycle makes more power with the same size engine and weighs 1/4 the car

a modern sedan can get 40mpgs on 87 octane and like 3x the power and space
