My company has had two C-level DEI officers since that became vogue circa the 2020 summer of love: the first was a big-deal hire from a FAANG company but they literally just used working at our corp as a career step to go right back to that same FAANG company at significantly higher title a year or so later. The second was introduced at one all-staff meeting and then mysteriously disappeared. None of the senior staff will talk about it, say they can't share any information whenever anyone asks what happened to her, and she was quietly removed from the org chart a few months later. The position has remained open ever since. Amazing grift.
