Nah, it's the Saudis. Israelis probably are in the shits because they didn't warn us when they could have, but they can easily play the same "wasn't sure if it was credible intelligence" that glowies use. Every congressman who has made
comments about what they say in the report mentions the Saudis.
Somebody(s) who is/are perfectly fine, unpunished, living their best royal lives, and hang out with the Saudis we actually deal with day to day - those somebodys whose names we wouldn't recognize, but a bunch of intelligence and diplomats would "oh frick", dumped a bunch of money and planning with Bin Laden in a very explicit 9/11 plan that they knew about ahead of time. It's somebody that, at the time, Saudi Arabia would never ever have held accountable or extradited because they were the king's first or favorite cousins or sons or frickboys or some shit, and the U.S. could not damage their relationship with the Saudis or OPEC that way without fricking the world sideways.

So... why did they hate the king and want to overthrow him? Why did they do all those suicide bombings in Saudi Arabia after 9-11? Why did the Saudi mukhabarat hunt down and kill Allah knows how many of them?
As far as conspiracy theories go, this one is pretty r-slurred. It relies on thinking that underground terrorist organizations must like the government of their country. They were from Saudi Arabia so they must love the Saudi king, right? Just like the IRA loves Britain, the Khalistan psychos loved Indira Ghandi, the Weathermen loved Nixon, the Shining Path loved the Peruvian government, etc...
As a general rule, terrorists usually are terrorists because they don't the government of their country. If there's additional evidence like them saying this directly constantly or hundreds of people being killed in fighting between them, those are also indications.
On the other hand, maybe we should trust congressmen.

It's not an underground terrorist organization - it's rich adult children who funded terrorism and and left their r-slurred, inbred fingerprints on it. The actual conspiracy isn't that dramatic. Whatever they did though, glowies figured the general public and do-gooders and political allies and adversaries would see them up close to Bin Laden on the "already dead bastards who are responsible for killing 3000 Americans on our turf" scale. Maybe it wasn't even that "bad", but they haven't wanted to frick around with what would happen if everybody officially knew.

The Saudi royal family overall and the Saudi "government" did not support al Qaeda. But there are a bunch of rich, useless royals, and some of them got sucked into some bullshit and wrote some checks and got some pictures of them running a train on a hooker with Bin Laden chanting "death to American infidels" or something.
