It's called blue light, most devices have a blue light shit that activates signals in your brain that say you should stay awake.

If youre on Windows ten it has a blue light reduction setting. Changes the color temperature so it's easier on the eyes

it changes the light from your monitor, so during night time it's yellowish isntead of bright white

it's a lot easier on the eyes and make me way sleepier at night in my own experience

Just use an app blocker. Block only the apps that give you problems.

I can't use the internet for web browsing after 10pm on my phone or laptop. Or before 10am, so I don't waste time before work either.

I use Cold Turkey for my laptop and AppBlock for my Android phone.

On the other hand, it does help with a problem more important for me. Imagine laying in bed with nothing but me in your head every night. I don't like it any more than you would.

Listening to Mark Citino do a lecture about the logistical situation of the 69th Panzergrenadier Division in the Battle of San Marseia helps me a lot. It's interesting enough to keep my attention from drifting away to other thoughts but not so interesting or lively that it would keep me awake.
