It's not like anything else, like there's no baseline for comparison to be all "it's like X mixed with Y's this and Z's that," it's very much its own thing which makes explaining it completely useless because there's zero frame of reference for people to build from :( NMS is very weird and incredibly unique.

You farm greebles to put in the greeble machine that give you an upgrade to +5% greebles collected and then you just keep doing that forever. But you can do it on a TRILLION identical planets with very slightly cosmetically different greebles! And now some of those greebles are on procedurally generated mountains!
