It's not really a bill I think, more of a formal demand by the opposition that the government needs to use harsher measures against (illegal) immigration/asylum applicants. In a survey done before the vote on that motion, about 60% of people surveyed agreed with the need for harsher restrictions. German reddit of course is sneeding at this with reactions usually being to compare the AfD to the NSDAP, that people only think migration is important because right-wing media tells them to, that issues stemming from migration need to be solved by investing more into institutions taking care of them (i.e. social workers), that the blame for problems with migration lies with previous governments and the occasional
. These discussions are all completely pointless imo because barely anyone ever bothers to first distinct whether they are talking about regular legal migration or asylum seekers (let alone where they come from) and so it just turns of into an eternal game of cat and mouse.
Really though, the sheer contempt some of them have for the "average" voter would make US libs on reddit look like salt of the earth tradesmen types. They unironically hate normie Germans so much it's actually kind of crazy to see.
I considered voting BSW because for maximum seethe it would be really funny if they made it into parliament but Die Linke didn't.

At least on anglophone discourse now I find people are fairly open they want less of both. It's the pro infinity bomalians who try to say "umm ackshully illegal immigration is a tiny fraction chud so all of your critiques of immigration are void".
