Everyone knows chromosomes are real, but if calling someone a woman makes them less depressed there's no real reason not to. I won't say everyone who refuses to do so is malicious (even if a lot of them seem to be), but they are extremely pedantic at least.

It becomes bathroom access, s*x segregation cant exist anymore, privileges for women cant be for them anymore, and lets not even get started on their insane obsession with going after children. They don't "go after children", they recognize gender dysphoria can be diagnosed before the age of 18. Now of course we shouldn't let children decide this spontaniously but it's pretty clear when a teenager has dysphoria and tells you for years.

Dysphoria in teenagers is a hard one for me to reckon with. I think if you want to do some thing that makes you happy but makes 0 sense to me personally after you're 18, go for it - we don't criminalize alcoholics who never operate a motor vehicle or get belligerent in public.
But kids get caught up in fads - it's so difficult to say that their dysphoria is genuine (setting aside the legitimacy of dysphoria for the sake of argument) and they won't cause more psychological damage later. That said, if you're genuinely trans and will be forever, transitioning while young lets you configure puberty like you want and makes you pass better and less dysphoric.
Idk it seems impossible to allow this without the collateral damage of kids chasing trends. Crackpot theory I guess is we need to allow some (operative word here being SOME) trans people to be disgusting, ugly, and worthy of ridicule, not just because they're trans but just for how they genuinely are (like that 50 year old guy in Canada who needed everyone to call him a little girl). Basically, we just need to allow trans people to exist but absolutely normally without the coddling.

The benefit is its utility in every other facet other than social interaction.
For example: say you want to demonstrate kin altruism through genetic relatedness in hymenoptera (wasps, bees, ants, etc).
You need to exclusively use the biological reality of two sexes which produce sperm and eggs. You need to understand the binary genetics of binary sexes. You need to understand haplodiploidy.
A different example: say you want to map out prehistoric human migrations. You use mitochondria from women (they are only passed on through eggs) and the Y chromosome from men (they are only passed on through sperm).
Gender studies people harass and protest and bring lawsuits to biology textbook publishers to include a token line at the beginning of the book that says "sometimes people don't feel that their body doesn't match how they feel" and then claim that biological scientists agree with them.
This is why archaeologists and anthropologists get harassed for saying they found an ancient female and then have to edit the report to include that they don't know the person's gender.

The DSM suggests having them socially transition to maximize well being. They should listen to their doctor because that is useful for them.

Other dysphorias are treated by trying to get the patient to break out of the dysphoria. I get depressed when you think I'm at a healthy weight, why shouldn't other people let me keep starving myself so I can meet my thin goals?
