I was grabbed at one of the checkpoints outside Comitán in 2015. The guy said "you again!" (Tu de nuevo) And grabbed me. Another guy on the combi said, no he's a different gabacho, this one isn't as handsome (no es otro, este no es tan guapo). This particular moment has stayed with me for nearly 10 years. I was almost grabbedans thrown in jail because I didn't have my passport (I left it at the house I was staying at) but I was saved by being too ugly to be some other gringo they regularly saw.
