Do you think the abolishing of the DoE will help this cause? I think there's too much institutional inertia to stop the dumbing down of education.

not really. I think it would be easier with a focused top-down vision, but that's not something the Republicans were ever really interested in providing or capable of providing well, frankly

Do you think that any sort of market-based policies for better outcomes would help? My priors suggest that the continual failure to tie higher education funding to any sort of meaningful results-based metrics incredibly distorts the entire system of higher education. For instance, law school tuition has a clear U-shaped curve when plotted against results. Schools with objectively worse outcomes charge students more (read receive guaranteed federal student loan dollars) than schools with better results.

Market-based reforms are cool and all, but tbh I'll mostly let others focus on those. I'm interested in cultivating and encouraging a specific, focused vision.
