China trolled Japan 2000 years ago, by bestowing the name of "Wa" to the Japanese people, which means submissive dwarves.

We totally promised to the Japanese emissaries that the Chinese character for "Wa" had good connotations.
It took them 500 years to realize the joke, onlyโฆ pic.twitter.com/3inN4eju2I

i'm not sure anybody in japan was really bothered by it at all considering how many contradictory or meaningless characters are used as ateji (for pronunciation only). chinese insults against japanese are like water off a ducks back because the nips don't even notice or find it cute that they get called ghosts or oni. by nature, chinese slurs sound antiquated and don't hit hard.

The stabbing carp thing emoji is funny to me, because who ever made it clearly doesn't understand that carp's melee and stealth stats are pretty much maxxed out and his awareness is pretty high too. Sneaking up on Carp to kill him is literally the worst strat to use against him. Aiat.
