If you were genuinely wanting to pick the brains of Trump supporters you could ask a neutral question like "Is there anything he's done so far that you have a problem with and why?" or "Is there anything you're worried about Trump doing even if you support him on the whole?"

The law allows for people to be deported without a hearing if they have been in the US less than 2 years and haven't made a petition to the federal government for protected status (like asylum). If they have been in the US longer than 2 years they need a removal order
Previous admins, like Obama who had a successful roundup, will give people time to get evidence of the duration of their stay (eg get family to bring documentation of a lease or utility bill) as it's an easy way of avoiding illegally deporting people.
Trump policy both times is that they have to have positive evidence on them. If they are being deported to Mexico that can happen within hours so not having a safety valve is an easy way for mistakes to happen.
In other admins if you claim to be a citizen that would slow shit down so they could figure out if you were lying or not. Current policy is that unless you can prove you are a citizen you are SOL. Better hope you have voted or some other action that requires a citizenship validation. Ironically the safest people are immigrants not natural born citizens, DHS have our biometrics so ICE can use their field scanner to immediately tell you are a naturalized citizen.
