Today in Silicon Continent I tell the astonishing story of the Italian Superbonus. How was the dumbest economic policy ever put in place and expanded by left, technocratic and right governments and not questioned by Brussels and Frankfurt?https://t.co/0Ha3w0I0tG

Seems unprecedented
Man I wish we could print money like that. Franks are blessed.
Renovation worth as much as a house is
How're they estimating fraud at just 5% of that lmao. Seems more like 60-70%, how tf do renovations cost as much as a built house+land?

The real reason you'll never see a federal Europe is the Southern euros will never give up their r-slurred economic schemes and the germanics will never allow themselves to be ruled without austerity

You are absolutely right. The European project was doomed before it even began because Italian values are incompatible with German values so you can never change Italy and similar cases exist for all nations in the EU in relation to each other which means that the less productive nations can only ever speed up their decline and death by joining the EU but never actually expand the EU.
The land expands, the population concentrates further into the same one to two nations.
One day you will have an EU of 50 nations where 95% of the people are living in 3 countries. That is no way to form a superpower.

if chuds would spend 5 minutes reading history instead of reddit comments at least you would have a substantiated opinion.
Europe has been at destructive wars for millenia, the economy was stagnant and dependent largely on foreign lands, democratic stability was low, and human rights were a "maybe" thing depending on the ruling government. Furthermore, to make things worse, communism had had its grips on a major part of the continent for almost a century, leading to horror as is expected.
With a stable Europe, we have seen growth, a global, stable, currency, a shared market, uniform consumer regulation, etc. Compare

I agree with you and stand corrected. The EU has a bright future ahead. While its current growth may appear stagnant to a viewer in America today, it is only from an early 21st century perspective that one may suggest that such is the case. From a historical perspective spanning centuries, the EU is actually integrating and expanding peacefully at a rapid rate, and its economy grows at a very healthy consistent rate matching the economic growth rate of European nations during the prosperous colonial era.
The EU has also continued to steadily rise in terms of Euro currency reserves globally and is the largest common market on the planet. It is also one of the only regions in the world that actively invests in helping economically develop its direct neighbors to maintain peace and stability, and help actively export economic growth outwards globally.
The EU has also begun to rapidly converge towards a common fiscal policy and common military, which pretty much ensures that in the times ahead the EU would come out as a fully integrated developed federal state, and as a federal state is likely to even go as far as to surpass the US economically, as all territories within the EU federal state would end up being within a 10,000 USD range of Germany's per capita income spanning all of Europe and possibly half of Russia after it balkanizes a few decades from now.
One day, the EU will be a country on par with the US but still steadily growing while the US would have peaked and be stuck in a perpetual decline due to having too much debt, as the EU is the only entity on he planet that practices responsible economic planning including the years of austerity that are meant to follow the years of mass spending to stop a recession from taking place.
