They may not have believed (or cared) if there was anything theological connecting them, but they certainly got that this was the same kind of thing in practical terms. Telling the peasants to tear down everything and rebuild society how they wanted. This is going to obviously piss off whoever is running society right now. And it's even more dangerous than Buddhists because they've got friends from Portugal and Holland, which may just as well be other planets.
Look at how Christianity was treated in other nearby countries. Now Korea and Japan are absolutely totally unrelated, not alike in any way
, but at the end of Joseon in the early 1900s
the Korean ruling class had killed off lots of Christians and it wasn't working. Society was legit starting to unravel because people of all classes were starting to get pissed off. Peasants: Why do I have to take it up the butt from my landlord? Elites: Why can't my daughter go to school? Also they had some quasi-Buddhist movement that sprang up as a reaction to Christianity.
Then there's a big part of history that I don't feel qualified to talk about, but it ends up with the "Christians" having huge neon crosses lit up really light all night.
If we got any gook lurkers here, pls pls pls weigh in on this. We got some Koreans here but I don't want to lean on them too much. They might start thinking I actually liked TVXQ...

There was also a guy in China who declared himself the second coming of Christ and led the deadliest rebellion in the history of China, which is quite a high score.

That guy was so much like me. He had like 40 wives in his harem and he was tormented because they screeched at each other like animals. Women, amirite?
Srspost: Really good example to look into. Most of what is happening there is clearly following Chinese traditions. I'm not a China guy
but this is reminiscent of earlier books about how to have a revolution that Second Elder Brother would have read about. (Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the thing where they tell you what your OOB should be.)
Anyway, my point is, there were huge huge problems in Chinese society at that point. They should be glad it was Christians who were the catalyst for knocking it all down.

I do not desire to be happy, for if I were not happy I would suffer from that desire.
