My oldest sister bought me a whole set of fancy Shun knives (over the course of about 5 years piecemeal for x-mas). Then one time when my other homeless older sister was staying w/me she used one of them to cut a pizza on a baking sheet and fricked the edge up, but not nearly this bad.
thankfully shun does free re-sharpens for life as long as there's some of the edge left. All you have to pay for is the shipping so made her send all of them so it all worked out

I do now, but approximately ten years ago when this happened I didn't so it was nice at the time.
everything I own now from knives to axes to woodworking chisels is like hair whittling sharp where you can whittle pieces off of a piece of long hair
