Hard steel=brittle steel. You can see how the blade chipped instead of deformed. Blades have their limits and this was not designed to go through bone

It is a well known fact if you know the first thing about nice knives that Japanese knives are not meant to cut anywhere near bone.

Because they're shitty scam knives people COPE themselves into hyping up instead of admitting they got scammed.

Japanese steel knives, especially higher carbon non-stainless ones, are very hard and therefore more brittle. If you buy any high quality Japanese knife the first thing they will tell you is not to use it on bone because they are prone to chipping.

Do you know anything about quality chef knives? Using a Japanese knife, or really any quality knife, on chicken bone is incredibly stupid. Might as well throw it in the dishwasher with your silverware.

My oldest sister bought me a whole set of fancy Shun knives (over the course of about 5 years piecemeal for x-mas). Then one time when my other homeless older sister was staying w/me she used one of them to cut a pizza on a baking sheet and fricked the edge up, but not nearly this bad.

thankfully shun does free re-sharpens for life as long as there's some of the edge left. All you have to pay for is the shipping so made her send all of them so it all worked out
