In contrast, communism gives +3 science and +6 food per specialist

what woke moron wrote that into the game

Communism in civ means science+production with a lot of population/cities. I think the point is that you can run hella engineer/sceientists with this.

Fascism means money+production (military bend).

Democracy means science+money (usually penalty towards war).

Democracy in the original game was even more ridiculous and made it basically impossible to have any kind of army, let alone fight a war.

I swear I remember in civ 2 if you ran democracy then congress could overrule you and force peace treaties beyond your control.

Civ diplomacy is beyond fricktarded. Its like a Canadian came up with it.

>get declared war on

>fight back the enemy, and lose nothing then no diplomacy hit just massive damage to your civ that you need to spend valuable turns to repair

vs

>get declared war on

>fight back the enemy, and take the fight to them, but don't take a city so just have a grinding war in their territory, no diplomacy hit.

vs

>get declared war on

>fight back the enemy, and take the fight to them, take one of their cities, big diplomacy hit

Its like they want you to be a cuck.

It really is obnoxious, to the point where it's basically irrelevant. I find it tedious to try winning without capturing cities because the AI has such a ridiculous numeric advantage over you, but when you start capturing cities, everybody turns on you. Seems like the only consistent way to win (without cheese) is to build a fairly strong military and take out at least your immediate neighbor.

The trade deals are awful too. If an AI gets like coal before anybody else, they won't trade it to you for ANYTHING at all. But if you get it first, they all offer these r-slurred trades to beg for scraps. Like no idiot I'm not going to give you coal or oil or whatever, breaking my own monopoly on the stuff, for 100 gold. Frick off.

Yeah but you could max out on science.

90-% of civ 2 was just spamming spies.

Democracy in civ 6 is goated for getting to the space techs. I'd say democracy+raid maxing makes the post submarine era go extremely quickly tech wise (I'll do it in like an hour of play in epic).

Then you just hit corporate libertarianism while you pump out a trillion Lagrange stations and then pillagemax as you win a science victory.

The new game fixed that by not having space
