It already happened, do you really think that stranded astronauts story is real? No, they exploded along with the whole ISS, and now NASA pretends they are stuck trying to figure out a cover story.
Musk is also part of the elaborate coverup, although he might be a pawn of the bigger players and remain unaware of the station being already destroyed.

NASA changed the orbit of one of it's satellites to match that of the (now destroyed) ISS. They are using a network of powerful ground based lasers to shoot the satellite, projecting on it the holographic image of the ISS.
