Agreed. It's 2025, they can get an Uber home and pay for it. (347)

Many women legitimately feel unsafe calling Ubers when drunk and alone/with only other girls. You can debate the reasonableness of that if you want to be that guy, but it's a real emotion.FWIW, I've been called at 2 AM for the same thing before - though, it was a week after a woman had been kidnapped, r*ped, and killed because she got in the wrong car calling itself an Uber at my college. (-72)

Basedness: ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”˜๐Ÿ”˜๐Ÿ”˜

Imagine arguing that women feeling unsafe riding Ubers means they're entitled to ask their male friends to pick them up at ungodly hours of the night/morning. (81)

Where did I say they're "entitled?"ย Do I think a male friend of mine would be "entitled" to ask me to pay go to the jail & pay his bail after he got in a bar fight? Heck no. Do I think a good friend should be willing to do it (as long as it doesn't become a habit)? Heck yeah.People frick up. Friends pick each other up when they frick up. (-38)

Basedness: ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”˜๐Ÿ”˜๐Ÿ”˜๐Ÿ”˜

I agree, but as the OP is written, it sounds fairly onesided. (45)

I mean he doesn't make any mention of asking them for anything & them saying no?ย And this is literally one request. The rest he's complaining about is themโ€ฆ talking about their lives? (-21)

Sorry, not man here, so I never comment but as a girl, honestly get rid of them from your life.ย ย "I hate hearing it because like dawg women are so privileged in this aspect it's not even funny." This makes me think they are just entitled abusive gf's. Especially that they talk about their relationship without partners consent to randos, especially that they are insulting themย  in awful ways.ย Awful people ngl.Depending on how influencial they are, and other factors, I would consider messaging these bf's and letting them know how shallow these women areAnother option is telling them to stfu. I once had a shit butt "friend" who told me shit like "omgg all these men here are so ugly" I dgaf and it pissed me so I told her that they think same of her but at least are quiet abt it. She never mentioned it again lmao (2)

Angriness: ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก

I went to university in a program that was mostly female so my friend group was 90% female. It was great for the most part but holy crap did girls talk about the most personal shit that I had no interest in hearing about. I also ended up being the "guy of last resort" when they needed help with something. The answer is to have boundaries. They are at a bar and need a ride home? You tell them to put on their big girl pants and call a cab. You aren't their escape plan. When they are talking about the shape of their boyfriend's peepee or something you either start making up a story about some girl with the nastiest looking snatch you've ever seen until they get the point, or just tell them that you don't need to hear that sort of shit in general. As someone else said, grow a spine. (15)

Angriness: ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก

What's an incel? - I learn so much in this sub. (-4)

Oh pull up a chair!Incel is short for involuntary celibate. It was a term created by very angry an stressed out virgins. This grew into an insult term later to describe some guy who is undesirable or at least looks like a virgin with no experience dating. Some would say things "she doesn't owe you anything incel!" Some kids with very low self esteem will admit they are one. But the term it self is really stupid because the involuntary part of it is from lack of taking any action or lack of trying from the virgin male side or personal growth. Like some would say "I went to talk to a girl and she ignored me. I'm going to be alone forever. I'm an incel." But the way I used it, people can look at Op's rant and say "ok incel" basically losing all meaning to the phrase. (4)

Two choices: give really terrible advice, or humblebrag about your own amazing romantic life.

>yeah, I totally know how stressful valentine's day can be, like this year I wasn't sure if he was going to take me to Rome or Paris...

Edit: make dumb joke about stereotypical romantic cities, touch off fifty comment thread of euros :marseyakshually:posting. Yes, I know Paris blows I lived there briefly.

Balkans erasure

Though I mostly agree, capitals are rarely the best cities in Euro countries

Rank the Balkans for me. I kinda wanna visit Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and Croatia but I dont know anything about visiting that area outside of which Balkan country hates which other Balkan country.

Only have been to like half of them so lot of this is second hand knowledge. Some general things:

  • Rule of thumb - the closer you get to Russia, the shittier it gets. Not even among the countries but within them, the further east you go in Hungary, Slovakia, (northeast in) Romania, the shittier the infrastructure, the more distrustful the people etc. vs the western parts of them.

  • Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland are NOT Balkans. Not just map autism, they're quite different culturally - unless you like various combination of meat, potatoes and cabbage, mostly avoid traditional dishes. Better alcohol than south though IMO.

  • Czechs are great hosts but terrible tourists. Avoid them as much as possible, Slovakia's Tatras and Croatia's beaches are biggest victims here.

  • This is universal across the earth but especially important in this part of Europe - pedestrianized town centers can be nice and historical, but there's nothing interesting once you leave them unless the city has a prominent feature or you have a specific thing in mind, just boring suburbs and commieblock neighborhoods.

Also, not in order, just broadly describing

  • Poland - too big for it's own good. There are things to do in the south, Tatras, Hitler's holiday resorts, caves, Krakow is nice, but there's not much else until Warsaw and then northern tricity around Gdansk. Funny language, don't know much about Polish women.

  • Czechia - the stereotypes are all true, if you want plentiful alcohol and slutty women, this is the place. Quite funny people too, great hospitality IME. Prague is overcrowded and overpriced, not worth staying in for too long - the center of the country sucks overall, interesting stuff is at the periphery, spa cities in the west, some interesting rock formations in the north, rampant alcoholism in the east in Morava with every other old guy brewing his own beer, wine, liquor, spirits. Best Czech, widely available beer is Budvar, nothing else comes close.

  • Slovakia - slightly inferior Czechia in practically every aspect from cities, alcohol, women, with more mountains to compensate. Maybe slightly better local food too, especially cheese. Not much to do in the south, east is really only worth it for locals, stick to cities in west/northwest and Tatras. Lower Tatras are a secret shout for

  • Hungary - honestly, it kinda sucks. Budapest is nice but like I said earlier about the cities, it gets boring and filthy the second you step off pedestrianized areas. Most of the other cities were built/massively expanded during commie era so not nearly as much interesting architecture or nice pedestrian areas and more commie blocks. Geographically boring country as well. Redeeming qualities - best goulash and cured meat, the secret is hungarian paprika/smoked paprika, if you do go, buy some. Good wine too. Balaton is overrated but idk, if you like going to music fests, spending a few days there eating, drinking and trying to frick curious Hungarian foids, it won't be the worst time.

  • Serbia - Hungary with mountains and Balkan-style cuisine. People, especially in more rural areas can be quite grumpy and hate foreigners/English speakers in particular. Would not be my choice for a time-limited holiday as a foreigner.

  • Slovenia - do you like Alps, but would like a Slavic twist to spice it up? This is the country. Weird mix of cultures, some central Slavic, some souther Slavic, some Germanic with a more Italian/Western European spice on top. Nothing culinarily interesting AFAIK, decent wine though surprisingly. Ljubljana is the only interesting city as far as I'm concerned, this one is all about the mountains and lakes.

  • Croatia - the most clichรฉ tourist destination for half of Europe - for a reason. Pretty towns with historic architecture, beautiful nature in spots, countless number of beaches you can choose from - do you like them big, small, sandy, rocky, open or more enclosed etc. Ton of islands if you want to spice things up. The only issue - way too many tourists, and the massive demand drove up prices and honestly made the service worse. Also, still in that awkward zone where the Balkan/Turkish influence on cuisine isn't fully hitting.

  • Bosnia - pretty overlooked/underrated country. The Muslim/Turkish influence on cuisine and alcohol can be felt here a lot, depending on your tastes might be the best cuisine yet. Some pretty cool cities and towns, sadly very few beaches. People range from great to antagonistic, probably depends on whether you're talking to a Croat, Bosniak or Serb.

  • Montenegro - Bay of Kotor is beautiful (if bit too crowded with tourists), so are some parts up north. Podgorica, beaches outside of Kotor mid.

  • Albania, North Macedonia, Kosovo - don't know much about either honestly. Kosovo is an enigma to me, Albania really just seems weird but intriguing, Macedonia the coolest out of the bunch.

  • Bulgaria - place where Slovaks, Serbs and Hungarians go to if they can't afford Croatia. Consequences of not being on the Mediterranean but Black Sea are colder water and underwhelming beaches, better than Romania tho. There WILL be some local women who throw themselves at you, hoping to get some of that sweet Big Western Peepee and escape the middling prospects of their country. Good cuisine, the proximity to Turkey is showing - do NOT eat random street food pancakes though. Lot more historical stuff than you might expect. Might sound somewhat underwhelming from my description but it honestly isn't bad.

  • Romania - poor and generally quite disappointing to me, unless you like driving through mountains. Bulgaria is clear, whether it's the beach stuff, cuisine, cities and architecture, or (lesser) presence of Gypsies. Ask local Romanians to defend their honor and tell you the redeeming qualities of their country.

Not doing Turkey or Greece, have been to both but they are well known already and this shit is too long already.

I served there in Falcon 4.0 Allied Force. :marseysalutearmy:

Czechia

I once asked Czechs what makes them different from Moravians. They had like 200 things.

The Muslim/Turkish influence on cuisine and alcohol can be felt here a lot,

Please tell me it's not raki. I don't even like licorice. I definitely do not want to drink it.

You kinda have to be local to fully get it but Moravians can spot someone's from Prague from a mile away and vice versa.

And yeah, rakija becomes ubiquitous south of Hungary. I also prefer the northern Slavic alcohol honestly.

Based on what? Do you want like old europe charm - Czechia. Do you want eurotrash medtierranian beach party - Croatia. Slovakia and Hungary are nice if you know what you are doing, but not for newbies.

They're frickin soulless bots. Once I worked in Zurich for a month, and I asked a Swiss born and raised guy for a suggestion on where to eat there. Now, I'm a Pastastrag so if you ask me where to eat in Rome I will pull up a ranking by me of all the best places to eat each dish and talk for hours about it. Instead, he just answered "I don't know, I rarely eat out". Then, he asked a friend of his the same thing just to get the same answer. Since then (and after numerous other examples, one month in Zurich is one month too much) I frickin hate them
