A different mod approved the comment, so I'm letting it stand, but it's still a very poor argument. "America only got its economy because it's uniquely morally evil and deserves to lose it" is a very bad take because it's way too easy to find all the other economies ill-gotten gains, and that's if we can even agree on what is the "right" or "wrong" way to build your economy. The slavery stuff is easy, but there's 500 other things we all do that have to be sorted in an moral absolutist framework. Is oil always bad, or is it ok when Americas enemies like Russia and China produce and consume it? Which angel in Heaven is weighing out the most moral tax policy, the most righteous worker protections, the balancing of profit and loss? Morals can be a part of economics, but nations don't operate on the Ten Commandments, and it's not a video game where rules are hard wired. Nations and corporations aren't human. (1)
