Maybe they should have focused on cutting regulations instead of cutting the people who navigate regulations. Like if you cut FDA workers, that won't reduce regulation but it will reduce the number of people who can process your drug application

I'm pretty sure they are only firing people because it's the easy thing to do and it bypasses the fact they can't override legislation which almost entirely congress controlled. Can't enforce regulations without people and you can't run an agency if all of your software contracts get canceled. Stuff like that
I don't think federal employment is the main issue at all but Elon did do it to Twitter so idk. There's 2.5 million employees
