Blackpool is a seaside town in the north west that was a top holiday destination throughout modern British history until Easyjet started doing Β£30 flights to Magaluf. Now it's a boarded-up warzone visited only by the roughest stag and hen parties.

Glasgow has always been a shithole and some neighbourhoods there have a lower life expectancy than Baghdad.

So you're saying that for our three week trip to Scottland next year we should stay in Edinburgh and not Glasgow?

That was pretty much already the plan since the Royal Scottsman doesn't even have a stop there.

For me the true beauty of Scotland is the Highlands and other areas without many people. Edinburgh is worth a couple of days but I'd skip Glasgow and just go to Loch Lomond. Cameron House is great if you can afford it.

We're traveling with Belmond sweaty.

Price isn't an issue.

Also Edinburgh is surprisingly small, feels more like a big town than a city. Don't expect to be entertained there for a week.

Unless you go during Fringe, I'm presuming.

Only two nights before we take the Royal Scottsman up to Kyle of Lochalsh.

Good to know!

If you like steak then go to https://thehawksmoor.com/. I have no other recommendations for you, although the whiskey tasting museum thingy isn't that bad as far as tourist traps go.
