You witnessed this in real time as Game of Thrones aired. The early seasons had kino tits and then it stopped.

But this is because TV writing got taken over by obese ugly women that hate men enjoying things, not because zoomers don't like tits.

That's how I learned you can literally have peepeees flopping about on TV, and it's not pornographic as long as it's soft

lol i noticed that too

you think anyone would genuinely talk about intimacy coordinators and 'too much' nudity if it were all pecks and shlongs?

S*x scenes are usually dumb, overly saccharine and most importantly completely devoid of any actual eroticism, but they provide a nice climax (:marseysting:) for two characters' emotional buildup

The '70s and '80s would put random, non-romantic tits in every movie because if was bad, at least there were tits. It was a better time.

Sure my parents and I are all adults and seeing a titty isn't gonna hurt us in any way.

But it's still kinda weird to sit through s*x scenes w/ them. Just awkward. It's almost never actually important to the story or anything either, it's just the director getting his rocks off 90% of the time.

I'm gonna be honest. I think that the idea 'either don't do it or leave it to porn' is foolish, because a s*x scene or a part of it in a movie, unless its like you say, some weird shit, will probably be 'better' so to say, than in porn, and probably more conservatively portrayed.

I mean one dude in the linked thread tried to humble brag, that he isn't a prude, because he is a massive porn watcher, but s*x scenes not filmed like porn, make him uncomfortable. And he got massive upmarseys.

It's also interesting that reddit never uses '90 percent of it's is shit and doesn't add to the plot' to fights, cgi, gore and murder. 90 percent of fight scenes added nothing to the plot of John Wick. but that's an easy target maybe

............................

While i was editing this, just as you think that most s*x scenes are unnecessary, i think the same about things i've mentioned.

Lol at the irony, i guess i was throwing rocks from my castle of glass.

It's a cultural/social/ tradition thing, i guess

As I for one, wouldn't imagine that a movie like Room in Rome being released in mainstream cinemas in USA, while it was in Spain for example.

And some countries censor usa horror flicks for extensive gore/

Too add to your part about directors getting their rocks off, well now they have s*x coordinators and such, so maybe the attitude and quality/quantity of nudity and intimacy i media will change over time

what the frick are you even trying to say here bb

I'd actually argue that s*x scenes being filmed more explicitly is what people are talking about anyways. Like nobody's complaining about the s*x scene in The Big Lebowski.

They also seem more drawn out now. I recently finished season 2 of Arcane and they had like a 3-4 minute long s*x scene between Vi and Caitlyn that just kept going and going and going. They could have cut it when they were already making out and took their shirts off but they just kept going. At that point it's just gratuitous - all that's important for the plot or character development is knowing they had passionate s*x, but you don't need four minutes to accomplish that.

I'm saying that many other aspects of the movie are drawn out and serve no purpose to the plot or character develpment, but only nudity and s*x gets critiqued

I don't need a 5 minute fight scene in Matrix to see how bad butt is Neo yet no one complains about that

Only intimate scenes gets under the microscope

Is as if people are searching an excuse

Why should they cut it? And so what if it's gracious

I'll give you an example

A s*x scene in a Bond movie adds as much to character development as a fight scene does

We learn that he ( or not anymore, because Amazon bought the series lol) is smooth operator all around

But The Matrix is explicitly an action movie. Complaining about action scenes being too long in an action movie is like complaining about there being too much s*x in your pornos.

And yet again 'they serve no purpose'

Works for many many aspects of a movie

But yet again, only intimate scenes are held under the microscope.

I hope we moved from the save the children era in mid 2010s and yet here we are back again

To 'just show them kissing, dude and not too long or sensually'

I'd argue current-day s*x scenes are more common, drawn-out, and explicit than at ANY point in time in the past. You're acting like the current stuff is a reversion to the mean but it is not.

I think we need a compromise movies

And that there is a limit on what can be shown

To which I agree with you

Something in between blacking out vs the edginess of the boys or window dressing conversations with background lesbian s*x in that one GoT episode

I will also agree/ like to add, that if a movie or a series are based on other material,

there shouldn't scenes added which were not in the original media, even if they suppose to add something to the character

For example - Jamie banging Cersei in their sons funeral never happens in the books. And that did look like the show runners wanking themselves, while trying to make a point about these characters being despicable people.

Edit.

"Every piece of media should be reviewed through the lense of 'would this be weird for some failure-to-launch watching with at home with his parents'. Also no artist should be able to express his interests or things he likes if it does not strictly move the plot forward.'
