I had no idea where else to post this. Obviously the mods are trying hard af to nuke the more violent comments, since this is already on the razor's edge for threats of violence.
Edit: for anyone who's asking, TDS is "Trump Derangement Syndrome" and I have no idea what it means. Anyone I've asked has given different answers so it's probably subjective in the way "tasty food" is.

Leftist ideology has been growing increasingly unhinged over time, but I think the assassination attempt was their breaking point. That was something many of them have desperately wished would happen for many years, only to have those deranged hopes swept out from under them as the shooter failed. It galvanized Trump's support and made him into a nigh-legendary figure in American history for standing up and fist-pumping defiantly. That moment was meant to be his end, but it made him stronger than ever and they can't handle that. They had a taste of hope and now they know it will never be allowed to happen again, and that Trump is going to come down on them even harder for it.
The fact that it happened twice has emboldened them into trying to normalize it as a talking point, which is what we're seeing in several subreddits now. I'm looking forward to hearing about the first redditors that are arrested for their unhinged rhetoric, it will be good for them and us alike.
