there's something about the color grading or lighting or something I don't understand that separates good 3d anermation from bad

how does a field of colorful flowers end up looking so nasty?

again I dont know what it actually even is but every cheap 3d thing looks like this and a lot of vidya too, washed out yellow/brown no contrast maybe

I watched a video on one them spongebob spinoffs "kamp koral?" once where there were examples and some were actually good

it was bizarre but the lighting and color seemed to go from competent to ^ this and back on a shot by shot basis. very strange phenomenon
