Yeah, pharma companies throw some money at research, but let's be real. The big, groundbreaking, world-shaking discoveries? Early-stage research? Corporate ghouls don't like a bad NPV. Those are mostly happening on the back of taxpayer dollars and nonprofit grants. The corporate money shows up later when it's time to eat off the carcass of the discovery.
