Given the number of wh*te males taking T you would think they would get the value in understanding effects of that treatment. The same research is also very useful for things like prostate cancer which can cause T production to go fricking insane and many of us will end up being diagnosed with.
They also really don't get that the admin overhead is engineered in to fund basic research and lab building, that's part of the stated objective of NiH funding not something hidden. NSF does exactly the same thing, in both cases literally a directive from congress. NASA also do it.

Yeah but ostensibly it's supposed to be used to bring your testosterone into the normal range if it's extremely low, like 150ng/dL up to 500. These guys get TRT prescriptions to go into full roid mode, or at least the upper biological limit.

TRT is more about symptomatic relief than about getting serum testosterone into a certain range. Blood tests are part of guiding the therapy, sure, but since there are a lot of metabolic steps between "testosterone in the blood" and outcomes like libido, motivation, depression, muscle mass etc. a (sensible) doctor will prioritise those outcomes when prescribing TRT or changing your dosage. For that reason, doctors have very broad discretion in this area to decide whether the tradeoffs of TRT are reasonable for the patient. I don't doubt that people like Huberman and Rogan are getting well above the minimal dose they need to resolve symptoms of hypogonadism, but if hypothetically their doctors got audited, they would probably be found to have done nothing illegal.
