Musk is not smart. He is nearly as dumb as Donny.

His PR people are very good at convincing normies he is smart and he is very good at talking in a way that normies think it's smart. If you listen to him talk about any subject you understand he sounds like a giant r-slur who spent 5 minutes reading Wikipedia and thinks they are an expert.

He is a walking manifestation of Dunning-Kruger.

The most r-slurred thing he could have done was hitch his wagon to Trump. Most of the chad billionaires are smart enough to pander to everyone so they don't get a giant peepeeing. He has guaranteed that his sweet gibs train is going to go away next admin and when the GOP eventually turns on MAGA he won't even have the benefit of one of the parties in his pocket.

Beyond life being simpler by pandering to everyone things like not dealing with antitrust issues and security clearance problems mean it's pretty essential to be seen as either apolitical or wishy washy. Apple almost killed Microsoft with a $15m bribe to start antitrust hearings. One pissed off member of a majority party is all it takes to frick you.

Whatever happens Trump isn't seeing the inside of a jail cell. He wouldn't have even if Kamala had not lost the election. He is too old for the appeals to be exhausted before he dies of CVD.

Elon is more interesting. If he didn't disclose illegally working to USCIS in his visa or naturalization paperwork he is eligible for denaturalization and deportation. He has done many r-slurred things but publicly admitting to that is pretty high on the list, it's not a grey area at all like he claimed.
