On March 8th a juvenile psych unit was overrun by 15 of its patients. Staff were assaulted and had to fight for their lives. Barricaded themselves in the nurses station (apparently a room) and called 911. When police arrived they were told they could not enter due to "unauthorized weapons" being brought into the facility. 911 operator told the terrified caller they couldn't come. Absolutely insane. This is local to me you all…. I'm about to drive down there with a sign. I'm currently taking a break from the profession (over 2 years at this point) and I'm becoming more and more sure I'll never go back. I left after being assaulted by 2 patients… being frequently being mandated (16+ hour shifts) was making me consider leaving and the assaults were the final straw.

The r-slur sneeds about police not being ninjas that can take care of violent psychotic individuals with their bare hands, then when someone points out to him that cops in Europe have guns he whines about bad faith and that he was talking about American cops needing armaments of small armies despite the whole thing being about cops with handguns not being allowed into hospitals.

I guarantee that if society acquiesced to their demands for police to be supermen and had more stringent fitness requirements they would sperg out about fatphobia in policing or some bullshit.

They'd just sneed about having to pay police officers more because that's what it would take to get physically fit people with good hand to hand combat skills.
Getting such people with those skills and also training them to handle the occasional psychotic juvenile without weapons is insane, and there's not much reliable protocol for such scenarios to begin with.

Depends on the country and is heavily impacted by the country's rate of civilian gun ownership.
Regardless cops should be allowed to use bring their guns when dealing violent psychotic individuals.
