The funny part is that the US is the most powerful empire in history specifically because the rest of the world uses the dollar to conduct the vast majority of their trade and as their savings. That's what the hegemony hinges upon. Also, if the US hadn't done away with Bretton Woods and began offshoring decades ago its economy would've completely stagnated by the 80s.
