For the West? Bored guy. Ex-military guy so indoctrinated to war can't live a normal life. Terminally-online guy who swallows the propaganda
For Russia? Either your own country has a gun to the back of your head (North Korea) or minorities that are promised more money than they've ever seen (basically $10). The latter may be the only smart thing Russia has done in the war. Considering the way they fight it, there's no way any of them will survive to see a dime of it.
