Redditors are surprisingly angry about it. Much less surprisingly, they are angry that it will make tracking problematic users harder in their eternal quest to do as much as possible for absolutely no salary whatsoever.

This is my favorite comment -

This is extremely important. Context matters a lot when moderating and allowing users to destroy it is very problematic. Agree is should be pulled from public view, strong disagree it should be pulled from moderator view.

Consider the following:

I create a throwaway account and create a load of posts userpinging a user telling them to kill themselves, but I delete them within 2 minutes of posting them, so there's very little chance of a mod seeing them. The user I ping, if they're using mobile, will still get bombarded with push notifications telling them to commit suicide but will be completely unable to report it, and mods won't be able to do anything because they'll have nothing to work with either. How's that going to work?

Yeah you can already do that you absolute r-slur, grow a brain and maybe dont let someone on the internet telling you to keep yourself safe get to you.

This change is going to cause problems for moderators on so many levels they can't have put any thought into it.

Good.

They do our work for us. I'll write them a fat check of 0 dogecoins for their troubles.
