Fun fact: literly nobody really knows where the name "Taiwan" comes from. The Polynesian aboriginals (many of whom were ethnically cleansed by Chiang Kai-Shek between 1947-1949) had a dozen names for the island and the Portugese (China's OG mayos) called it 'Formosa' which apparently means 'beautiful' in their ugly language.
