I wish, I'm the proverbial Jack of All Trades, I lack the neurodivergent commitment to truly deep dive into a single topic for all eternity. I pick up a new blorbo, play with it for 3 months, get like 75% mastery, and then find something new to obsess over. I haven't ever 100% a single video game ever. I am a failure.

I'm a chemist who sold out for management. I beel you on the bidyagames. I procrasturbate mega hard on vidya so I don't have to finish them. After a certain amount of time, I just go balls-to-the-walls and just fricking complete them knowing I didn't go 100% completion.

lol i wish my career was at a point where i could sell out. but yeah, normally i like my chill approach to vidya, but there's some games i wish i had 100% because i feel i truly missed out on amazing content. Like Disco Elysium or Divinity: Original Sin 2. But there's only so many hours in a day and i don't just wanna consoom, I wanna create.

As I type this, I realize I lied: there was one game, or rather, a trilogy of games i 100% when I was a kid.

The Spyro trilogy.

I do believe I just located the source of my dragon fetish.

I blame streamers for this sensation. At the end of the day, bidya is just watching a movie but you have to make your pixels stand in the right spot.

Very true.

Anyway, wanna see my original multiplayer vidya? The game I met my first gaming friends in, the one where I became Yoko Ono and broke these simps apart completely accidentally?

Well, it's an MMO that shut down back in the early 2010s. Shortly before the culture reached a fever pitch. I associate it with happier times. Nobody talked about politics back then, or maybe a lil, but not a lot. We were just having fun and tbh, I was the most cringe and most political person in our whole friendgroup but by today's standards, I was the most relaxed moderate, i just had Strong Opinions about r*pe jokes. I really didn't change much tbh, the culture changed around me.

There's a :marseypirate2: server now, opened in the late 2010s, and I eagerly joined... but everything was different. The culture I loved was gone. Can't go home :)

But... be the change you want to see in the world or whatever that White Woman's Instagram's motivational poster said. So I'm trying to recreate that spirit of City of Heroes.

I'm old enough to have played Quake 2: Jailbreak. Fun times. Heck, my first 3D shooter was Wolfenstein, and I had even played the original 2D version of it on Atari.

And you're absolutely right -- the internet didn't used to suck.
