Yale professor is still embarrassed by his SAT scores 30 years ago. Dunks on rightoids by lying about his SAT scores for years just to show how much he doesn't care about his SAT scores :marseyseethe: .

Just to give you an idea on the kind of person he is Jason is the problem with academia

Honestly just go through his twitter he is flipping out on Wesley Yang who is some rightwing guy with a substack. He has multiple threads bitching about this guy I have never heard of.

I got a 1400 (700 English, 700 Math) which was top 1% at the time. (Because back then, the SAT was a lot harder.) But I don't talk about it much nowadays, because an SAT score is literally the stupidest thing to be proud of. I only mention it when I want to dunk on losers who act like academic scores are such a big deal. Real intelligence isn't about grades, it's about your actual knowledge. And the only measurement of knowledge is what you can do with it.

SAT is bullshit, you should flex grad school admissions tests. 750 GMAT score here (top 2% of all grad school applicants), what’s up?

My MCAT was 96th percentile. I dropped out though lol

But yeah in general I’m more interested in what someone has done versus where they’ve gone or what they’ve scored

Like sure it’s cool that you have a high IQ. But are you actually using it effectively?

it’s all just masturbatory otherwise

But are you actually using it effectively?

Yes, in the sense that I work 80 hours a week at a job that makes me want to kill myself, with drama and the insane money I make as the only respite in this world.

The worst part about business school is that you make a bunch friends that basically only care about making money.

I scored top 1% on those the first time I took them also. (Don't remember my exact score, just the percentile I was in.) But why are we flexing about GMATs? For all my "impressive" scores on these standardized tests, I really haven't accomplished much in my life beyond driving a lot of people crazy through the magic of science. This is what I mean when I say standardized tests are not a good predictor of intelligence. I really ought to be doing a bit more with my life, to be honest. Driving people insane is fun but I can't help wondering if there might be, like, some sort of bigger picture or end goal I should strive towards.

I squandered my potential. This is why standardized tests are bad.

That's not the flex you think it is. Grad school is for losers who can't make it in the real world yet. The last thing most people want to deal with is some pretentious prick who just spent the last 6-8 years of his/her life cleaning test tubes and making homework for his professor

proud of you! where are you applying for grad school? (don't say Wharton)

I'll apply everywhere. T7 is a stretch. I should get T25 though. The indian applicant pool has a high gmat average as it is so my chances remain slim.

I can’t remember my GMAT, but I got into all the schools I wanted except fricking Bates College. Got into Columbia, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, LSE, but fricking Bates is the one that snubbed me. It’s been several years but I’m still bitter since that rejection was out of nowhere and I would’ve totally attended if I got the good admissions package I expected.

I couldn’t decide if I wanted a general grad degree in my discipline or one with a particular focus a school specialized in. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
