How Carp Sees the World—or, Come Laugh at the Disabled :marseycarpdead:

The Fish unwisely revealed in his recent thread that he is physically disabled:

I’m partially colorblind and I always thought your name was blue lol. Blue-purple are my worst colors

Amusingly, actual carp can see more colors than humans, up into the near-ultraviolet: Carp, therefore, is strictly visually inferior to carp.

Blue–Purple discrimination is worst in protanopes—people who have wonky or absent red-sensitive cells in the retina. Since we don't know how 'partially' colorblind he is, I uncharitably assume he is maximally impaired in red perception.

And this is how he sees the world:

Check out: https://webvision.med.utah.edu/book/part-viii-psychophysics-of-vision/color-perception/ (Ctrl-F "Figure 18" and look at that section, esp Fig. 19).

If you hunt down the citation in the figure and get the formulas to compute the precise lines through the CIE space, you can then convert those into RGB (maybe needing some sort of illumination transfer function?). Or grab the actual Ishihara plates off Wikimedia Commons and sample the colors out of a protanopia-discriminating plate.

You should make something funny with this. It will be good for Dramacoin. Doubleplusgood if you design a Marsey that colorblindcels can't understand. :!marseytroublemaker:

Use colors from the thing on the left and it'll look like the thing on the right.
