I believe everyone should at least have a single psychedelic experience in their lifetime.

It's usually some loser I wouldn't want life advice from saying this

LSD is pretty fun and harmless unless youre a schizo or latent schizo.

I am sure LSD is fun like most drugs but I am almost certain it will not make me more enlightened or otherwise change my life for the better

I'd like to try LSD, at least once. I tried a fairly large dose of mushrooms and saw the universe as an abandoned egg, desperately needing a warmth and presence it couldn't understand and would never feel. I recorded myself for a while and it was me crying and murmuring hopelessly, again and again, 'je voudrais être mère.'

So pretty spot on, really.

South African. My Huguenot ancestors must have been stirring, reduced to pidgin French, eternally regretting their abandonment of Catholicism and France for the ends of the earth. :marseypope: -> :marseycalvin: -> :marseycry: -> :marseyghost:

And I'd been studying French.

Sounds like you had a bad trip, same thing happened to me my first time, At first it was cool, I thought the trees had come to life and their branches were psychic beacons projecting the thoughts, feelings, and energy of all life forms. It kept growing stronger though and I was the only receiver, and I ended up in the corner holding my head and rocking and crying for a few hours.

A tip someone gave me was to have a glass of wine or a beer and just relax while you're waiting for the effects. Should prepare your environment ahead of time so you don't have to do anything else, then put on some chill music and get into those vibes and relax while it's slowly creeping in. That worked, and I never had a bad trip again.

I found shrooms to be much more enjoyable than LSD. Shrooms were like being in a video game that you can control and direct, like lucid dreaming ... but with LSD, you're a passenger along for the ride whether you want to be or not, and you don't know where it's taking you.

I hope to try it again when I'm in a good frame of mind. There were also moments of great contentment, and beautiful colours.

Hallucinogens don’t make you more enlightened, but they can make you aware of the patterns in your life you were falling into without realizing. Tbh you only really need to do it once to get that benefit from it, from then on you can just examine what you’re doing from that perspective. Or you can just not be an r-slur and have some self-awareness, but that didn’t work for me so I took drugs once instead.

It's always some loser saying that. The only people I've ever heard give life advice are complete loser (read: my friends irl) and every time they start really trying to give me direction on stuff I have to remind them that I have no desire for my life to look like theirs

Is it really hard to believe all my irl friends are losers?

The audacity! I can only wonder how a true winner like you has found themselves surrounded exclusively by contemptible losers.

Yeah I've literally never heard that from anyone with a career, a family, and a house - it's always some burnout loser who either lives with their parents or shares a studio apartment and has never worked a job outside of fast food in their life.
