[Long] An open discussion on rDramaโ€™s development part 2, aka idio being a petty piece of shit.

This is obviously a response to a carppost over here, so feel free to read it for his side of the story (wrong).

All this happened due to Kristallmopt, with Aevann asking ex-:marseyjanny: what features they'd miss. Seeing deleted comments came up. It was made into an idea of a profile upgrade (purchasable in shop), where every poweruser would be able to see user-deleted comments (jannymopped stuff would remain invisible). It almost happened. I accidentally noticed it in codecel channel and said this:

https://i.rdrama.net/images/16841352061767004.webp

It was then polled and despite carp trying to argue for it, rejected unanimously. Reasons? We're trying to avoid this site becoming a den of snakes where every turbosperg with 20k :marseycoin: can go through your profile and find drunkposting that you deleted yourself months ago and use it to dox you. Also we don't want powerusers freaking out over minor shit and overwriting their entire comment history (which does happen more and more, annoyingly for readability of old posts).

This latter part led to a suggestion of making deleted comments just disappear from one's profile, as a way to make schizos less worried. We couldn't actually delete them from our DB entirely, for a variety of reasons, so this was basically just a visual bandaid to calm neurodivergents down a bit. Obviously it would only work if it wasn't public knowledge, so carp's spergout post made it pointless, and the idea has now been abandoned. You'll still be able to see your own deleted comments.

That part isn't a big deal. What is annoying, however, is that carp did argue for the former (bad) idea, while not saying a peep about the latter until the post that he made. Didn't vote against it, didn't say why this would be bad, nothing. Merely came on the site after it was approved and made its implementation pointless. That was supposed to show how our (((oligarchy))) is dysfunctional and we need a benevolent fish dictatorship, because (((oligarchy))) wants to take your features away. Also notable is that throughout that post he tried to gaslight the userbase by claiming that we were doing it to be more like reddit (a position that literally nobody took or would ever take). This was what dominated his entire post.

That's about it. That's all that happened.

TL;DR: Carp is gaslighting you. Nothing will actually change, nothing would have functionally changed anyway.

Homegrown drama is good drama. It's a slow drama day with the WAPO story dying down.
