I had this same problem with Assassins Creed Origins and Odyssey. Previous games were about free flow melee combat, but when the games became like RPGs all that mattered was whether the enemy still had their health bar.

I can welcome some challenge since in old ACs you had to be sub 70 IQ to die in a fight, but I hate the excel spreadsheet RPG items and crunching by the numbers leveling systems.

Good AC was always carried by its story, too. I think they switched to the RPG system because the writing started to get mediocre as the sequelitis continued, and while old-school AC gameplay isn't bad per se, it's not good enough to carry a mediocre story. They just clearly had no idea how to make it an RPG system that still felt like AC, so we got what we got.

This makes sense tho, New Vegas and open-world RPGs with big modding communities in general (i.e. Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout 4) are absolutely filled with autists, weeaboos, furries, bronies, and coomers, when you mix all of these groups you will inevitable get the
