workers co-ops are a completely viable idea but you build them from the ground up and run them like any other business, not try a hostile takeover of a current business and focus on politics over business efficiency

REI is the best example of a co op. No politics, free money every year and they sell products that are actually worthwhile and also sustainable without being you over the head with it.

Yeah it’s a huge part of their schtick. If you join the co op as a customer you get a good amount of coupon deals monthly (esp for the outlet online) and literal dividend payouts based on your purchases for the year

If you buy new boots or a sleeping bag or expensive merino hiking sweater or sun shirt you can expect to get like 50% of it back at the end of the year. EMS may have less expensive clothing but for /innawoods/ gear, REI owns
