It is better than him collecting womens underwear or copies of Martha Stewart living. I mean I collect certain things but not to the point of obsession. Funko pops can be fun like having all Seinfeld characters or Harry Potter limited edition. My parents really like Godzilla it was an inside joke of theirs and they can't let it go. My dad likes motorhead so I got him the Lemmy pop rocks.

:marseypanties: ...why does this guy frame the alternative to collecting funko pops as collecting women's underwear?

Funko Pops? Oh come on now lol. I was imagining creepy af porcelain dolls based on Op.

Nude anime figures was where mine went.

Yup I thought hentai anime loli pillows and the like.... But all this freakout over Funko pops? Darn...

I think I'd judge them more for choosing Funko Pops instead of higher quality nicer looking figurines

Funko Pops are just like the most weird looking things to me

It also doesn't help that the only Funko Pop collectors I've met were all the same exact type of "Crypto Bro" who is obsessed with NFTs and the like

Before OP's edit, some people were speculating that it was legos or precious moments figurines, lol

This reeks of the old days where nerdy or geeky hobbies and fandoms were ick and people avoided them because “what’s the point?”

I’m not a fan of funkos, personally. They are incredibly popular in the realm of nerdy / geeky fandoms, though.I do have a couple that people have gotten me. My kid plays with them, mostly. That being said, they’re no more pointless than literally any other collection. What is the purpose of art, music, stamps, records? It’s just enjoyment and a conne [:marseylongpost::marseylongpost::marseylongpost:]

:marseystonetoss: The old days?

Like how many funko pops are too many? I have two on my bookshelf to add flair to my zoom backdrop

lmao this dude flexes on zoom using funkopops

I collect my cats' whiskers and put each one in it's own tiny jar.

cool story bro

People need advice on the stupidest shit here. Analyze your own thoughts and if you don't want to date them because of a toy collection then don't.

Exactly, I didn't think Funko collecting, let alone any kind of collecting, would be a turn off to anyone. Today I learned. I'm sorry OP, but that guy deserves better than you.

suddenly asking reddit stupid shit is a problem :soymad:

We have around 50 in our house, between partner and I they are easy birthday gifts and Christmas gifts and we have seasonal ones too. They may seem like a nerdy/boner killer for some but if you plan on sticking around have a look at them and find some you like. Me and my partner are both 30s going Into 40s with no intention of taking them down.

it's the aunt who sends you funko pops

people on the internet still think Funko Pops are weird???

some people in the thread had never heard of them

I have this exact problem. Thank you for validating my feelings, I'm glad I'm not alone.

I had a severe pout of noooo reading this and kept repeating the word—I’m with you

Let me guess.

Those funko pop things? Mass produced poorly made pieces of over priced plastic so many losers think are investments.

>I would just be worried it's Funko Pops.

They get weird about them having value one day and it's basically a beanie baby

There are a bunch of comments from people saying they dated a "collector" guy, and he ended up making less money while they worked more hours to pay for their home/appartment, and he flooded it with more and more of his stuff while treating them like an annoying mom and would cry and throw fits when asked to sell some of their collectibles, and eventually became abusive.

:marseymanysuchcases: :marsoyhype::marseybattered:

many such cases... apparently

I feel like I've seen people tell the same story about their collector partner slowly inch toward unemployment while hoardmaxxing the living space like three times already
