Nurses are fun because everyone in the hospital knows theyre former cheerleaders who dole out meds, wipe asses, and gossip, but outside the hospital they can fool folks into listening to their bullshit medical opinions.
But that sub is regarding Nurse Practitioners, which still gossip but are also allowed to prescribe the fun drugs
Doctors aren't viewed the way they are in America pretty much anywhere else in the world.
Doctors are like on par with teachers etc in other countries. In America, due to our awful healthcare system and the origins of it, they've basically put a lot of prestige on the field where it doesn't belong, and kept salaries high with artificial scarcity.
A lot of the issues with US healthcare could be resolved by knocking doctors down a peg and gutting the insurance industry.
Just because people have to actually pay for shit here doesnβt make it an awful system. Everyone was smug posting about Cuba until they could no longer hide the fact that they couldnβt even get covid vaccines.
I'm going to blow your mind, and this is a very important point: the quality of a healthcare system is not judged based on the level of care available for the most well off people.
That's not how reality works. Furthermore, those people fly here to skip lines in their own countries, not primarily because the quality is better here. Other countries have similar/better healthcare outcomes in most areas and pay half of what we do.
The US healthcare system is complete dogshit, it's the worst in the western world.
You can either have great healthcare that everyone can have access to if they work hard enough, or shitty healthcare for everyone regardless of how hard you work.
Most people cannot afford the healthcare you speak of, is what you aren't comprehending. The US healthcare system is objectively inferior compared to every other system in the western world.
This isn't controversial, it isn't up for debate, reality is not subjective.
This is gonna blow your smooth brain, but a nation can have both public health care for the poors and the freedom for the money bags to go to a private hospital.
This isnβt true, in what country is MD not literally the highest tier behind astronaut? Itβs the same in Asia, Europe and America so what country actually has this view?

In the UK, junior doctors make like Β£40k/year and medicine is an undergraduate degree (you go to it right after high school, no bachelors degree first)
1st point: Junior doctors, I will assume are comparable to residents in the U.S, who also earn a shit wage. Not comparable to an attending.
2: Medical school in Europe is generally like that, my program is 5.5 years straight out of highschool, no bachelor. Unlike Americaβs 4 years + bachelor.
You can easily make 200k usd as a cardiologist in Norway, no teacher has that sort of wage.
Tier 1 tech companies pay 175k in cash with like 210 tc. Pretty sure Google entry is 185+ with tc of close to 250k. Not that entry level matters much because a dedicated techcel good enough to work for a FAANG company is going to be on their 3rd job making 450k by the time a doctor from their graduating class makes it out of med school lmao
This isnβt true, in what country is MD not literally the highest tier behind astronaut? Itβs the same in Asia, Europe and America so what country actually has this view?
Speaking as a Europoor that has spent more time that I would have liked in the U.S. the attitude is very much the same here as there in my experience, IE a highly respected job. Might be different in the U.K. specifically. I remember seeing some study a while ago that the trend was fairly similar globally, as in what jobs were considers high status. Doctor/lawyer was universally topping that list across cultures.
I don't know I agree a bit with pizzashill, doctors are obviously respected and considered the definition of middle class but yanks seem to have a higher level of doctor worship. Salaries are also higher which fricks up other Anglo sphere countries.
Creating a problem and then whining about said problem is nothing new. What is new is how hard insurance companies steer people to these lower billable hours while still jacking up rates.

moids will never cash in on lucrative "pink-collar" occupations because they're too blinded by their toxic masculinity and prefer to wait for a coal mine or factory or some shit to magically appear. They also tragically lack the aptitude necessary to spend an 12 hour shift gossiping.

I hate naturopaths. In some states they are actually allowed to refer to themselves as doctors/physicians even though the highest level of medical certification they have is fricking CPR. They mislead people into undergoing "treatment" with them instead of seeking real medical intervention. People die because of this. Absolutely insane they are allowed to operate the way they do.

But the respect and status of the job is still the highest, definitely not comparable to a teacher. Not in salary either.

China they aren't even considered "elite." The UK they're not laughed at, but they aren't anywhere near US status.
